Mechascopic's Dispatch
Hey everyone,
I’ve officially crossed the 200 hour mark in Arc Raiders, and somehow I’m still right in the middle of rebuilding after my last expedition.
It’s been a grind in a different way this time.
The early game loop is still something I really enjoy, but lately there’s been a bit more friction, especially when it comes to how runs start.
When the spawn works against you
One thing I’ve been running into more often is how much your spawn location can dictate the entire run.
If you don’t land near a solid point of interest, it can feel like you’re already behind. By the time you make your way across the map, other raiders have usually swept through the good loot spots.
That’s been especially frustrating when trying to collect blueprints.
You can play everything right, move carefully, survive encounters, and still come out with very little just because of where you started.
Lately, I’ve been adjusting my approach:
focusing on what’s nearby instead of forcing routes across the map
treating “bad spawns” as low-risk supply runs
resetting expectations for what counts as a successful extraction
It’s not perfect, but it keeps the momentum going.
Still chasing stability
Even after 200 hours, getting back to a stable kit takes time.
Blueprints, in particular, have been the bottleneck. Without them, it’s harder to build consistency between runs, which means more time spent scraping by instead of progressing.
That said, those small wins still hit:
a clean extraction
a useful crafting material
one piece that moves things forward
It’s slower than I’d like, but it’s still engaging.
Chaotic fun with Pizza Possum
Outside of the Rust Belt, I’ve been playing Pizza Possum with my kiddo, and it’s been a blast.
This game is pure chaos in the best way.
You’re sneaking around as a possum, stealing food, avoiding guards, and causing as much trouble as possible. The split-screen setup is really clever, letting both players do their own thing while still sharing the same space.
What I like about it:
quick rounds that are easy to jump into
simple controls, but lots of chaos
perfect mix of stealth and silliness
It’s one of those games that doesn’t take itself seriously at all, and that’s exactly why it works.
Loading up the Playdate
I’ve also been adding a few new games to the Panic Playdate, which continues to be one of my favorite weird little gaming devices.
Recently picked up:
I haven’t had much time to dig into them yet, but I’m really looking forward to it.
The Playdate is one of those things I go through phases with. When I pick it back up, I always remember how much I enjoy it. I just need to carve out the time.
What I’ve been streaming
Recently on stream I’ve been:
continuing the Arc Raiders rebuild grind
experimenting with adapting to rough spawn locations
mixing in some Pizza Possum chaos
If you’ve figured out a good way to deal with spawn disadvantage or have tips for blueprint farming, I’m all ears.
